DANS has started programming

DANS (Digital Archiving and Networked Services) preserves the uploaded dendrochronological data in the digital repository (compare News Archive). In June DANS has also started to develop the DCCD-web application. This application is set to be operational as from September 2010. During the development phase, the DCCD-web application will be constructed in cyclical phases; each time building a small (independent) part of the application.

Future harvesting of dendrochronological data will be possible through the application and should increase the amount of data in the repository. The DCCD-web application implements the TRiDaS data model and will therefore be able to communicate with other TRiDaS users through XML. Apart from some general project information data owners can specify the security level surrounding their (meta)data and if they would like to share their (meta)data. After completion the DCCD-web application will be open source.
